Default Building my own intake

So I'm tired of waiting viva is sold out and gdubsdesign isn't getting back at me soon enough, so I'm just going to build my own, Here's the plan.

Using a cf canister/ air filter I found on eBay and various spectre fittings and what not from a local pep boys I'm just going to wing it and see what happens. Worst case scenario[s] I throw a code and just put my stock back on. Or , I destroy my engine... Meh I'll take my chances.

Question is should I shell out 100$ for this canister or should I just use a k&n filter. I definelty wanted to utilize the ram scoop at the end of the intake box( behind grill)

Any suggestions? Hopefully I'll have it done by end of next week.

Doesn't matter I went with a kamotors filter for it. The ones I'm using look to be fine by me really the only pieces I need are for the Maf and vacumme lines the rest is just extensions.

I'm second guessing this build, I didn't realize what else was inside the stock air box. A vital control module is in the box, kept in there to stay cool. Based on Ricas example picture I know realize the computers mounted on the side near the grill. My concern now is the parts super expensive and leaving it outside the air box will make it susceptible to over heating.

How risky is this especially nearing winter it shouldnt be an issue but in the summer it gets up to 110 hear in new Mexico. Should I do it or just ditch the idea?

I'm thinking maybe just change plugs, do that little volo chip thing and wait till next year or so to get a T5 and go ***** deep.

T5, ***** deep. And yes ditch it, there have been quite a few people who say that without the box it overheats quite fast.
