Hello.
I have 2003 S40,
Every time i start A/C the bad smell gets out of vents. Any ideas why?

Maybe time for a pollen filter change?

 

I have a 2003 S40 & have experienced the same problem... You definately need to change the cabin/pollen filter.... Sometimes you might need to change it about at least twice a year... its easy to change yourself & the part costs about $12 from Volvo... good luck

Thanks alot. The filter was extremely dirty and full of small leafs and junk.

I have also heard that the A/C hose to the drain tray could be plugged cousing water gathering and creating bad smell after some period of time. Could that be the case as well? How can i check that?

If the water drains under the car with the A/C on the drain is clear.
