camshaft install positions
had to take my camshafts out...and the careful markings i had on them rubbed off...now I have no clue how to lay these things in there...WE ALL KNOW ABOUT THE TOOL.....One way I put them in was looking at cyl 4 lobes on exhaust are pointing away...lobes on intake pointing towards you 180 deg. seperated....You can reverse this whole camshaft arrangement 180 deg so instead of cyl 4 now cyl 1 has the exhaust pointing away and intake towards you...so which is the starting position ??... there are absolutes...the slits on the bacj end are aligned with the tool...and the loebes are 180 deg apart...maybe ??? it occurs to me mahbe the loebes arent 180 deg pointing away from each other....actually I really havn't a clue doews anybody out there have an insight ??
you missed the whole question...it was how to position... after the sprockets are off... the camshafts from scratch...the valve cover is off so given the slits on the back end are horizontal and secured with the tool....the question is what position the lobes are in.when you start....you can have the tool in there in two or more positions of the camshafts.....its where to start the camshafts......there is another ?? the lobes on the exhaust and intake cam are 180 degrees apart....like on cyl 4 the lobes on the exhaust are pointing away from you...the intake lobes are pointing towards you.....DO YOU GET IT ???
I can't tell you what position the cam lobes are pointing - never looked.
Peace -
