Car surges forward while driving Temp gauge crazy
Car is surging forward while driving as if the cruise control is on but its not on. The temp gage hardly registers anything then goes to full hot and back down. Its been really cold here but it gets that way in Upstate NY so the car is usually fine.
Seems to like 1500 rpms and 2500. what ever gear its in it tries to get to 2500k or 1500. Then it will drive fine for a few miles and go crazy again. If I put it in neutral it settles at 1500.
Yes the check engine light is on. Have not read the codes yet... I'll get the codes read on Monday by the local volvo guy.
Help???

Definitely check the trouble codes. Also, I have read similar threads with your symptoms so try a search here to see if someone has found a definite solution. My guess is it's related to the coolant temp sensor.
