Is the battery in good shape?
Did he inspect the fuel pressure regulator? It will only take a few minutes to check it and see if it is bad.

He said the battery was fine. I think he had the fuel pressure regulator checked at a shop.
He is now on s40concepts.net asking the same questions. He actually responded to one of my old threads about this same issue.[sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]

After checking, the mechanic till now haven't mentioned the battery.
Lyonsroar, I'm tracking your old thread, would you talk me about the final solution? thanks!

The way you explained in the last post leads me to think battery voltage or cranking amps might be low. You said it seems like it cranks slow.

yes, I feel it's getting worse. The enginecranks weakly at the first 10 seconds after iginition. At the same moment the Check Engine Light is still on. After the 10 seconds gone, the Light goes off and the engine cranks normally (strongly). That's the new finding in recent days. In the before, the crank wasn't so weak after iginition, and the Light went off at once after iginition.

Have the battery load tested.

The battery is brand new. One question, would the replacement of coil and iginition switch will work on this issue? anyone has the experience? thanks very much.

The ignition switches rarely go bad. The coils go bad but that would not make it crank slow and take longer to start. Also if it was bad then the motor would have a misfire.

Thanks. The mechanic just told me the starting problem was fixed after changing spark plug, so the planned replacement of coil and switchisn't began.
I'm going to pick it up this afternoon and update here. thanks.

I don't have a solution. I still get the problem periodically when sunny outside.

update news. I picked it up from mechanic the day before yesterday. The starting issue disappeared at the mechanic site, but came back after driving. Sometimes ok, while sometimes not good, still longer than normal. I want nothing to do now, just do nothing.

Exactly, wait for it to really break and deal with it then! That's what I do!
