Clock spring
Hi
Just had a steering rack fitted to my s40 and now the horn doesn't work. My mechanic has told me it was the clock spring but when I got another clock spring for a breakers they have said it doesn't work although the breakers said it would My s40 is 2005 and the other spring clock was off a 2007 model.
Can anyone advise if this problem is the spring clock and were could a get one of these.
The mechanic plans to put a temporary bottom under the dash for the horn to get the car through mot next week. I really don't want to do this but I need the mot.
Cheers

Why is it so many mechanics think it's OK to charge you for breaking your car?
And now he's going to install a button under the dash to operate your horn? Wonderful.
Tell him he broke it, he should fix it.

Clock spring
Best thing is. The guy that put on the rack got anti skid service required on the dash plus horn wouldn't work after he installed the rack. I had to take the car to another mechanic who charged me £120 to put the anti skid. He said the guy that put the rack in didn't connect the wire correctly. So I'm paying £120 plus I have a broken clock spring and a horn under my dash that will probably cost more £
