Once you get the bulb out, take it to your local Radio Shack. They had quite a few of the bulbs I needed when I re-did the interior lighting on my son's 850. Just an idea..

Good evening,

I have replaced quite a few bulbs in the cluster and the job itself is not difficult, but you have to remove the dash top cover, which is held by many Torx screws. You also have to disconnect the battery and be careful with the passenger-side SRS. Allow yourself plenty of time to do this, you don't want to do the job in a hurry, especially on Volvo's.

Once the top cover is off, there are about 3 connections you need to disconnect on the cluster. The cluster is a self-contained unit and when all connections are disconnected, you can release 2 latches on top of it and take it out.

The bulbs are miniature type and are held in place with a holder. I bought the bulbs at local AutoZone and so far the displays are all functioning, except the left bulb on the LCD and the right bulb for the tach are sometimes absent, but I just give it a light tap on the dash and they come back to life.

Good lcuk,

JPN

Thank you for the info guys. I'm new to the Volvo scene, I am trying to shift from the Honda to the European vehicles. I love my 96 850R though, it's plenty fast and strong; although, it does eat a lot of gas.
