clunk/rubbing noise
Hey all. i have an 07 2.4i. recently, when i turn the wheel left at slow speeds, i feel a weird rub/clunk right under my feet while driving. it's only at slow speeds. it happens every time i'm leaving a parking lot or driving slow. i'm not sure what it could be. i just got this car less than 1000 miles ago. any ideas?
Could be the half shaft. On my 2000 S40, some years ago the same sound/clunk was happeneing that way. Turned out my drivers side half shaft was wearing out, so I replaced it with an aftermarket part for about $150 (did the work myself).
had it up on the lift today, didn't see anything out of the ordinary. everything seemed to be ok. nothing was broken or loose. i still feel a weird rub under my feet when turning at low speeds. dealer said nothing looked wrong, but to keep him in the loop and he can have someone else look at it. kind of frustrated but glad that it doesn't look like anything too bad. how do i know if a strut is bad? i heard a weird rattling noise coming from the wheel wheel at highway speed yesterday. so i have a rub/clunk and a rattle at high speed coming from the driver side wheel.
I had the same problem on my 2004, spent a whole year trying to figure out what it was, replaced cv shaft and hub assembly and that wasn't it, finally took it to another mechanic and ended up I had a broken front passenger motor mount. That fixed it, only $110 plus $30 to install.
