Cluth spring brocken
The other morning I get in my car and press cluthch pedal to the floor to start the car, I heard a loud pop and a rattle I start the car aniway and the clutch feels funny.
I call the stealership and make arangements to take the car in since I am still under waranty and sure enough the clutch pedal is spring loaded and the spring broke. They will not give me the spring to investigate but will replace the whole cluth pedal and spring, it turns out that the factory wants to see why the spring broke so they will send it back to the factory.
There was a constant squick every time I depressed the clutch pedal and I think since the pedal is made of hardened plastic and the spring atatched to it there was an unholly union and the metal in the spring dug in the plastik pedal otherwise they would only replace the spring.
I will insist to see what and where it broke so if the lubrication at the connection between the pedal and the spring can go away and the spring digs in to the pedal and ultimately damage it I think everyone should know about it and lubricate thet junction.

While my clutch spring never actually broke, it did produce sounds like an old creaking wooden ship. Apparently, there is a TSB on the spring assembly. My dealer finally replaced mine free under warranty, but not before making 2 trips to the shop. That did the trick ... smooth clutch action and NO annoying noises. My car's an '06 s40.
