I have a 2001 S40. The alarm has never worked properly. Every couple of hours it will go off even if nobody or nothing is anywhere near the vehicle.

My first preference (obviously) is to fix the problem but failing that, is there some way (besides pushing car into a lake)to disable the alarm but still allowing the remote to lock the doors. The dealer has been no real help whatsover.

Any ideas for either :

Fixing the problem
or
Disabling the alarm
