Default Coolant leak / pipe split? (Video)

Hi lads. Currently have a 2002 Volvo s40 and had a recent coolant leak. It seemed to be on the drivers side. Took it to garage and they replaced a pipe with new clamps but I'm not sure it originated from the pipe they replaced. Anyways when I was looking under the car using my phone I came across what looks like a split - don't think this is where the coolant is coming from as it seems to be dripping from above that but does anyone know what it is?

Here's a video that should explain it better...

Any ideas or help much appreciated, on where u think the leak is coming from or what the split is ?

That is the CV joint rubber boot. It's job is to protect the CV joint from debris entering the axle assembly and to keep grease inside the joint. The boot should be replaced to keep the CV joint alive for the maximum amount of time but in truth it's probably cheaper to leave it alone and just replace the whole axle when the CV joint fails. Depends on who does your work.

EDIT: CV = Constant Velocity

Your leak is above this point though. Looks like you have quite a leak.

Thanks for the help mate!

I have took it back into the garage today to tell them that its still leaking - think it could actually be the water pump.

Probably just take your advice and sort axel once it fails.

Annoying thing is I got charged $200 AUD the first time for replacement pipe and clips that wasn't even the source of the leak

just an update. Turns out it was my Water pump that was leaking.

Getting it replaced along with the belt as I guess it makes sense to do these two at the one time.
