Cylinder two misfilre
My check engine light came on and I went to Autozone to have the code read. I have a cylinder number 2 misifire. The tech said it is most likley the sparkplug or the coil above the sparkplug. What is the coil and how would that cause a cylinder misfire?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If the sparplugs have not been recently replaced (as per service schedule) I would start by putting four new genuine plugs on there. If they have been replaced then your mech is right in that coil may be defective. Apparently the coils develop hairline cracks that disrupt current flow to the plug. I have heard of some folks finding them and fixing them which you could attempt but prob best to simply purchase new coil(s).
If you have DIY experience, you shouldn't have any trouble with pulling the plugs. You should be able to judge if that vid applies to your car. Make sure the engine is clean before you open it up.
On the preventative side (not related to the misfire), has the trans fluid been changed? Timing belt?
