Default Temp Sensor Location?

Does anyone know where I can find the Outside Air Temp Sensor on my 05 S40? I need to replace the sensor since I am getting very inaccurate (low) readings on my dash indicator and then the A/C will not turn on if it is too low. I am thinking it is somewhere near the front bumper area, but it seems to be well-hidden. Thanks!

I believe the air temp sensor is in the driver's side (left) mirror housing. #6 in this image - ~ $12. Other discussions seem to indicate that it's a challenge to get to. Perhaps you should first check the contact quality of the electrical plugs leading to it.

Thanks mf70. I did take the mirror apart - a but tricky, but very easy once you have done it. I have a Hayes manual coming for the S40, then I will get back into the mirror and see if I can get this sensor replaced. BTW - the clear turn signal lenses in the mirror are very easy to buff out with McGuires plastic polish and a cotton buffing wheel on a drill. Takes about 10 minutes each side and leaves them looking almost brand new. These lenses remove easily once you disassemble the mirror housing.

I too bought the Haynes manual as soon as I had the car, but a VMware copy of Volvo's VIDA has proved to be even more useful, especially after I bought a clone DiCE interface to read ALL the car's codes.

+1 on polishing the turn signals. Having gray lenses just makes the car look "worn."
