I am reaching out to anyone in the Dalls TX area that has some knowledge of the Volvo S40. I am stationed in Norfolk Va and my daugher lives in Lewisville Tx. She is pregnant and is having an issue with her Volvo. She bought it recently used and it started causing her problems. She is limited on funds due to her pregnancy and is in need of some assistance. I would work on her vehicle if I was not in Va but she is clueless and trying to help via text and the phone is of no help to her. The car overheated on her when her boyfrined replaced the radiator and didnot tighten the hoses up. One of them came off and it started to overheat. She shut it down and pulled to the side of the road and was towed home. They put in new coolant but the car will not start. I am hopefull that she did not blow the head gasket and it is something simple as the coil packs melted or something was shut off by the cars cpu when things got hot and they tried to start it later. I know my Land Rover will shut itself down after so many attempts to start. If there is anyone that has time to give her a I hand I would be greatful and would be able to assist in sending some money for your trouble. SHe cannot afford to take it to the shop which is why I did not want her to buy a foreign vehicle. Either way if a fellow Chief is reading this I would definatley help out with something. I will not be able to come down until she has the baby but in the mean time she needs transportation..

Wow, how frustrating to want to help but to not be able to due to distance, etc. Sorry to hear about her overheat.


I hope she is able to figure this out and get the car back on the road. keep us posted if you can.


I wonder if it could be something as simple as the ECT being fried due to the overheat condition...one of those out of whack could very well account for a no start...
