Hi all S40 owner,

I have a very annoying noise for my '03 S40 (speccially when driving in irregular roads). I'd like to open the dashboard, clean and reposition plastics but cannot find how to.

Does anyone have some kind of drawings of how to remove central dashboard/console?

It could be the strut mounts and strut bearings. Does it sound like a piece of metal is slamming against another piece of metal behind the dash? For the longest time I thought mine was a broken dash support brace banging around.

This site has an exploded view of the strut assembly. VOLVO S40 SUSPENSION FRONT 2000-2012 at Swedish Auto Parts The 2000 model is different than the 2003.

I've also had the anti-sway bar bushings break causing noise over bumps. The noise was lower than the strut noise. You could tell it was under your feet and out front.
