Default Driver side lock busted 2000 s40

Hey guys, I have a 2000 volvo s40 and the driver side lock just busted when I was trying to lock the doors. All 3 of the other doors are able to lock/unlock but the driver side won't budge. It also sticks when I try to lock it with key and I kinda have to force it to unlock. Feels like something is stuck under the lock on the door. I can't even push it down using little force, didn't want to actually make it go. But any suggestions or ideas of where I should start? I know very little about cars so any and all help is welcome! Thank you in advance!

Remove the switch panel from the inner door panel, disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the screws holding the inner door panel to the outer metal door. There are about 6 or 7 in various spots including one behind the speaker cover. Once loose, lift up the inner door panel to clear the window channel. There will be no need to force anything. If it doesn't move easily then you have missed a screw.

Once the inner door panel is clear then move any plastic sheeting to get a good look at the backside of the handle and lock. Look for any broken pieces or metal rods hanging down. Sometimes it's a simple fix like a busted plastic piece that holds a rod in place. Sometimes it's more difficult like a busted lock housing.
