Hi I have recently purchased 2003 Volvo S40 2.0T and the Engine Light came on. Is there a way for me to get the engine error codes before I sand it back to the dealer's workshop, without me having to take it anywhere or purcasing expensive devises.

I heard you can get the engine error codes of the vehicle yourself?

Any help or advice will be apriciated

 

You need somekind of scanner to be able to read them. But most generic scanner will not read all the codes as well.
Sorry I know it isn't the answer you want to hear but it is the truth.
