hi how you doing, i was driving my2003 volvoe s40 1.9t car yesterday and before i put the auto transmission in reverse i here a sqeeky noise, that sounds like one of the disk brakes running on metal and after that the engine died. I have to put the car in park and start it up back again, it also happen to me today.. why is this happing?????? help please! thanks

 

Could be a bad transmission.

That is the only thing I can think of that would stall it only in Reverse.

 

i know this sounds stupid but, it only happens in reverse. if it is the transmission, Will it spread like a virus to all the gears?
