850 t5r bangs when put into reverse
I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me why when i put my car into reverse after driving like to back out of a parking spot it bangs when put in reverse. It doesn't do it in the morning when heading to work but after driving it and starting it back up and backing up it bangs it sounds like im giving it gas while putting it in gear. I hate that it does it and think i am hurting something but need to put her in reverse once and a while. Never does it when engine is cold only after warm up.

Yes it looks good, and when i got the car three years ago i added luscas trans oil to it. It only does it after it has been driving seems like as i put it in gear it makes the moter rev a bit just enough to make it bang. Maybe its normal and i may have a mount thats bad. i have replaced the motor mounts all except the back motor mount the one near the turbo. Could it be a bad mount make it bang i really think it is a motor rev at the time i put it in reverse.

I have the same problem, here is my thread:
https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-850-16/harsh-bang-when-putting-transmission-reverse-30865/
I was installing an IPD swaybar on it and notice the transaxle leaving the transmission on the drivers side could be moved, a little wobble. In my thread it is mentioned that Ihad a bad CV (which I knew had been replaced and were not the problem) but looking at this output shaft...it may be the cause. I have not pursued it yet. Sometimes I rev the engine up to about 1200 RPMs before putting it in reverse...works well sometimes. Other than that...I live with it. Sad
