engine swap
im curious to know what people think, im the proud owner of a s40 R design 2lt 2010 deisel it runs lovely but it has 180000 miles on the clock not a scratch on it i would like to restore the engine. just want to get a idea of costs and weather its worth it.
Do an oil analysis on it to see if shows abnormal wear. Blackstone Labs will give personal comments about their findings as well as showing a comparison of your engine to the averages of that type engine in their databases.
diesels are known to last longer than petrol engines (the fuel doesn't wash off the oil on the cylinder walls so readily as gas). Restoring the engine may be more about sensors, hoses etc than valves, pistons and bearings. Seems that can be done on a moderate budget without removing or replacing the block. I'd expect the bottom end to be good for 250K+ miles
