Well do you want a more throaty exhaust tone? A little more performance?

Exhuast Systems

However my suggestion is that you go to a local muffler shop and have them custom make you a 2.5" free flowing catback system with Magnaflow muffler. Or if your s40 isn't turboed then get a 2.5" catback system made with a Flowmaster muffler.

As for an intake kit I can't say yes or no to that. http://www.eurosporttuning.com might have a intake kit for your car. I know that on IPD's 2005 s40 project car they used a K&N Typhoon Air Intake System. Call IPD up and see if they know if it will fit the 2006 model s40.

You could also just put a nice K&N panel filter in your stock airbox, this is the best setup.

How much would a custom made "2.5 free flowing catback system with Magnaflow muffler" cost?

Depends on materials used.

But I had one made for an 850 with a Magnaglow muffler for around $325.

If I am not mistaken that model is still turbocharged correct? Turbocharged vehicles like free flowing exhaust systems. Flowmaster mufflers are baffled Magnaflows aren't.
