I am new to the forum. i have a s40 and want to do work to it. i was thinking about putting on a nice exhaust system, one that will make it sound nice and strong. also, anyone know if i could put on a blow off vavle kit. thanks for you time

 

Yes you can put a BOV on your S40, I assume yours is turboed. That is why your asking.

Are you planning custom exhaust or prefabbed? Custom will be a lot cheaper.

 

do you know what kind i could put in? also, do you know where i could find out how much boost i am running, or if i could play around with the waste gate to get more horsepower. also, which exhaust system would you recommend. thanks alot.

As far as your boost do an internet search. I am going to say 10PSI probably. Your best bet is to buy a boost gauge like from Autometer, they make great ones. Then you can see for yourself how much your making and if it is off since you did the internet research then you know you got a leak somewhere.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT MESS AROUND WITH THE WASTEGATE. NOT A GOOD IDEA, BAD IDEA.

Like I said before I recommened going to a local muffler shop and having them create you a mandrel bent downpipe and exhaust system.

 

I have a HEICO exhaust system on my 2002 S40. It is VERY nice, fit like a factory system with no cutting or mods requires, has a nice mellow sound (not loud), and seems to add a little zip to the car.Plus the muffler and tips are chrome and add a great look. BJ
