You have got to check this out!!!! The stock exhaust has an extra pipe that is welded shut on the driver side of the muffler. It looks like you can cut off the weld and add duals. If anyone has noticed this please reply. My local muffler shop noticed this.

 

I went to the local muffler shop where my friend works. We hoisted the car up cut a pinhole where the dual seemed to be welded off and found there was pressure. We guessed that it is the same muffler that is on the T5. I am ordering magnaflow tips for both sides, running new pipes from muffler to tips and cutting off one of the two resonators for better sound. Im using a dremel to cut rear valance to make room for the 3" stainless tips. If that is not enough sound I will cut off both resonators. I dont want to have that rice burner sound. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

 

I know this was posted a while a go but I noticed the same thing to my S40 2006 and wanted to know what hapens when we have to do smog check?

If the added pipe is after the cat then nothing would be affected, smog wise. The mod, if I read it correctly, is after all the emissions equipment.
