Default Exhaust Flexible Pipe replacement

I have a 2001 s40T. The exhaust flexible pipe (the one which is attached to the engine) has worn out and needs replacing. While driving there is a lot of exhaust noise. I am not sure what the part is called so knowledgeble form members can educate me. My questions for forum members are: 1. Where can I get a repacement? 2. What is the part called?
Thanks for your response!

if you are talking about the exhaust running out from your turbo, that is part of the turbo downpipe which runs into your catback...Not sure if the flex part can be replaced seperate from the downpipe...hopefully someone else knows on here...but if it turns out you need a new downpipe, your talking a bit of money...

I believe your talking about the flex joint on the downpipe. Might be replaceable. I know most are welded on.

Are you positive that the problem is with the flex pipe? You might also want to check the torque on your exhaust manifold. Volvo identified a problem with the studs and nuts on these engines and have since then replaced the nuts with a better version. On my S40, I found that some of the manifold nuts had vibrated off and others loosened. Replacing the nuts and torquing it back down fixed my loud exhaust noise.

The flex pipe is the problem. It has a hole in it.

the question at hand then is if the flexpipe itself can be replaced or if you need to replace the entire downpipe...

Well I looked up the "front pipe" from a parts supplier: http://www.tascavolvoparts.com/and it's about $500. I found another listing at another web site and it was $950. Ouch that is a killer. Check eBay on that one also.

I believe it is the front part of the exhaust pipe (flexible pipe) which he refers to as the front pipe; at least according to this replacing the front pipe link that I saw.

Its called a downpipe. It comes right off of the Turbo and runs directly down the middle of the car.It has a flex pipe section in it.
The problem is that the section where the flex joint is is not prefectly round. It was partly flattened from the factory.Ive replaced a couple of them personally. Its not a hard job at all.Just have to have a welder,a new flex pipe joint that you can get from outside source (KOI) and cut the old section out,and as you weld the new one in,smash it onto the pipe with a ballpean hammer and continue welding.

I had the same problem on my 2000 1.9t. I just got it replaced at the local muffler shop with a very knowledgable person. It cost me 125$. Call around to your local muffler shops or check with friends to see if anyone can do it. not a big deal. If you replace it without genuine volvo parts, don't be alarmed if your turbo is more pronounced. Mine now echoes through my neighborhood. Went to local volvo perfomance shop and was told not to worry bout it if i saw a hp gain. Worry if u see a loss

Default 2001volvo s60

my back brake lights in my volvo s60 2001 will not shut off when the car turns off. However if it does shut off and seems to be working properly when I hit the brakes a check brake light message comes up andmy brakes don't work except for the back window one. At first I thought it was a pinched wire but realized it was not. Then I switched out and put another relay in thinking it was that but that didn't work. It seems that the light itself is getting the power it needs however it is not working. Any help I would appreciate it

Having the same problem with mine, going to use a mic and crawl under the car and check the size, because I can't find any info on the inlet outlet dimensions...
