OK, the Volvo I bought the wife last month is my first run in a turbo car (2004 or 2005 T5 with 75k miles). What oil are you guys running for these cars? I have no problem spending a little more on oil if it is worth while. Does anyone run Mobil1 Euro Spec or Shell Rotella? I am mainly looking for a true 4/5 synthetic most likely. That is what I prefer to run in my S4 and it runs as smooth as glass, hope the same stays true for the S40.

Mobil 1 full synthetic is your best bet. My '01 has had it since I bought it new and I've never had an issue.

 

I was a Mobil 1 fan myself and used it until I made the switch to the Castrol Edge 5-30.The Mobil1 is still a very good oil it just gets burnt by the turbo very quick.

 

I run Mobil 1 5W-30 in my wife's 2004 V70 2.5 Turbo. Any good synthetic will do the job. Pennzoil platinum is another good oil. Go the Bob is the Oil Guy forum Bob Is The Oil Guy - Forums powered by UBB.threads™ to get in depth discussion on motor oils.

 

I vote Mobil 1. Any 10-30 weight will do however, unless you're racing the car or towing in the Alps, you'll be fine with most anything.
