Flush the Fluids DIY?
I just had my brakes redone at TireKingdom and they tried selling me their "Fluid Flushing" deal on my fluids in the car. I turned it down so I could do some research on it...because it costs over $100 per system (brakes, power steering, etc). I found some sites that say it is worth while, and others that label the flushing as "snake oil."
I am more of a tech guy, not much of a mechanic...but I am willing to learn. So my questions are this:
1) Is flushing the fluids recommended? Is it necessary? My car is at 50K miles, but I don't know how the previous 2 owners took care of it.
2) Would it be best to do it myself if it is needed? I saw some YouTube videos that made it look easy.
Lastly, if any of you have done this to your car...any advice you can give on it? Thanks in advance everyone!

I always did them on my 850 NA myself along with my Chevy truck. Cilton manuals usually contain step by step. If you start early in the vehicles life it's a good idea, wait to long and you may end up with more problems. In my 02 V70XC I let the dealer do it when called for, and will probably do the same with the S80. Good luck.
But what fluids should I use? Will any DOT4 work? What about power steering...as most people say I must use a "green" power steering fluid that only volvo makes...any advice would be great on which fluids to get for each system. Thanks again!
