stupidly i put the battery terminals on the wrong way on my 1999 s40, the wires started to smoke along with the alternator, any ideas on what I need to replace, as it still smokes and wont start now, lots of relays clicking when i try to start it, now all connected right. I feel such a tit. pls help the idiot

 

First check all the fuses in the fuse box. Then you might also need to replace the Alt.

 

cheers, all fuses are ok, will it do the alternator in before anything more major?

 

Sometimes it will sometimes it will not. You might have also fried a relay.
