Default Fuel filter not filling

I have a 2006 Volvo S40 1.6d I've been having problems with air getting in through the injectors so was hard to start first thing in the morning but today it wouldn't start at at not fuel getting to the engine so I took the filter out and it was bone dry I have been told it could be injectors or high pressure pump

Do you live in cold weather?Your fuel line could be frozen.

C or F?Either way water freezes at below 0C so you have a pretty good chance to have this issue.Try some fuel antifreeze additive that should take care of the water in the fuel.Even if this will turn not to be the problem it will not hurt.

I would check on the UK forum first. Many people with diesels there. Most people (if not all) here are from North America and drive the gasoline version.
