Default Gabriel G52079 Quick Struts

I have recently purchased a S40 and have found that the spring is broken on the passenger side. I have looked into the needed items to fix the problem and have found that there is no quick strut that can be purchased. I am from Iowa, U.S. and was wondering if maybe there is a site from over seas that I could order a quick strut from? Any information will help that I can go from and easily install it rather than a possibility of hurting myself trying to compress this spring.

Thanks for any info again

Daniel

which year? the 2000s have a different strut bearing from the 2001-2004 and then the 2004.5+ are different from those. Also check out FCP Euro - they carry the Pro Parts Sweden assembled struts for $210 a side. Good idea to go pre-assembled. When I did my 2000, I found the springs to be very long (much longer than my 850) - too long for most standard spring compressors.

I am sorry I thought I had put that in there. It is a 2000, I have found this website with coil overs. Which I do not care for adjusting the height but the price seems a little to good to be true.

They are around $250 for the entire set, front and rear. even at $210 a side for pre-assembled they are still better than the price I have looked at for getting all of the parts myself. Thanks for the quick reply it is helping out a lot!

Given the web site is in Germany, that's probably 250 Euros not US dollars. Most US sites quote $500 for FKs. Regarding the 2000s, You can expect all the springs to break over time - I've done 3 of 4 and have spring #4 sitting in a box waiting for the next to go. If I had to do it over again, I'd just do the fronts with FCP pre-assembled or take the strut over to a shop with a professional strut tool and have them insert the replacement spring for me... If you decide to do both struts you should be able to upgrade to the newer better bushing, but that requires replacing the mount and the bushing with the 2001-2004 design.

Have you heard anything good/bad about the FK's? on amazon and then ebay as well the most they hit is around $350(USD). If they can get through say about 50,000 I wouldn't mind purchasing them then as I would be replacing every 5-6 years. Its just an idea for now but if they can last a few ten thousand miles then it is a option that will then open up. Thanks!
