Help installing trailing arm bushing please
I am rebuilding the suspension of my 2000 S40. I am done with the front but the rear is causing me problems. I managed to remove the trailing arm and take the bushings out. The new bushings are too big to just be pressed in though, it seems like they have to be compressed first. How are these installed? If I take it to a shop, does it have to be a Volvo shop or would any halfway decent equipped shop be able to do it?
The red arrows are pointing at the sections of the outer race that are not metal. When the bushing is in the trailing arm the gap is closed
The bushing can be partially compressed by hand, just not enough to stick it in the trailing arm.

I was thinking about hose clamps but I would still lack the right sized pipe. I ended up giving it to my local mechanic and he pressed it in for me. In my search I was redirected to this how-to though and it is a pretty good way to do it too: Trailing Arm Bushing - How To
