Default HID problem!!

Hi all... I did some research on this but can't find the solution to my problem.

I have a 2005 Volvo S40 T5 with bi-xenon lamps.

A few weeks ago a message poped up on the computer telling me a low beam bulb was off. Sure enough, the driver side HID bulb was out.

I ordered a new one and installed it myself, this went pretty well. Easy install. I noticed that the old bulb had broken and was in pieces??
When I turned on the car, the light was still out! Here is the trouble shooting I went through:
(note that at all time I was wearing latex gloves and never touched the glass part of the bulbs)

1. I switched the new bulb to the passenger side lamp and it works fine there. The older (working) bulb doesn't work when I put it in the driver side lamp. So I figured that I don't have a bulb issue since they are both working when installed in the passenger side lamp and both wont work in the driver side.

2. I tried the same process with the balast (switched them up). Same deal, they both work when installed in the passenger side lamp but nothing works in the driver side.

3. All other bulbs are fine in that lamp (high beam, turning signal, etc).. only the HID wont work.

4. I checked the fuse (no 51 in the dash fuse box). Looks fine, plus there is only one fuse controlling both HID so that can't be it since one is working fine...

I am out of idea at this point and the closet volvo dealer/service is at 4 hours away... Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!!

The only thing I could think of is that you burnt a wire out. I know when I bought my hid's the company sent me a pair of different wires to hook them up to because they can handle the extra heat and energy from the hid's put out.
