Ive been looking at my options for giving my 06s40 T5 some better sound, which is the only part of the car that is lame. I know about the exhaust upgrades, but I remember the volvo salesmen explaining to me that that the material attached to the underside of the hood is used for sound insulation. I was wondering if I could take that out as a way to hear the car better.

The mat under the hood serves two purposes.It keeps engine noise out of the passenger compartment and it keeps engine heat away from the hood.I wouldnt take it off.BJ
