How to remove engine 2006 s40?
So long story short....I have to replace engine in 2006 s40 2.4 vin 6th and 7th digits are 39.
I have alldatadiy.com subscription for this car and it has the procedure for removing the engine. However, it tells me to drop motor, lift car, and roll it out. Is this the only way or has anyone hoisted theres up and out?
Also any recommendations on a manual? I'm hesitant on just following one manual. Is just the typical hayes or chilton good manuals for this extensive work?

Let me guess, it's either because of oil consumption or no compression. The reason they tell you to do it that way is because it is the easiest way to do it. Thats the way that I have done it on every engine replacement. Just take out the subframe and disconnect everything connected to the engine and trans and remove the 2 motor mounts and it comes out.

@mf70 I'll try and check out VIDA. Thanks for checking Haynes for me!
@Damien360 Yup, oil consumption! Girlfriend ran car with little oil and now there is a hole in the block! I don't blame her entirely because her oil light never came on. But when I get it back up and running, I will be checking oil religiously.
Just to be sure, I pull engine out WITH transmission and axle, then just swap them to the new motor and then I'm good to go for the install right?
Thanks for the help
