Default I need hep with my window!

Hi all! I have a 2002 S40. My drivers window started to make noise a while ago when i was raising it! It sounded like a gear stripping. Now if i put the window down I actually have to grab the window by hand and pull it up while I am pushing the window button. And the whole time it sounds like gears stripping. Does not do it going down! What do i need to do here! I am afraid at some point it will not come up! Car has only 92k on it!

You need a new window regulator. It's part number #30623448 on RockAuto Auto Parts

Price is $179.36 and it shouldn't be too hard installing it yourself

Motor & Regulator

1. Place window in fully raised position.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove or disconnect the following:
-Inside door handle
-Cover at base of door mirror
-Screws holding door panel
-Pull off door panel
-Electrical connectors at switch module
-Cable for the inside door handle
-Guide molding
-Guide rail

4. Secure the window using tape to keep window in raised position.

NOTE: The lift mechanism is correctly positioned for removal when the holes in the mechanism and in the arm are opposite each other.

5. Remove or disconnect the following:
-The rivets holding the lift mechanism
-The lift mechanism
-The connectors for the power window motor and regulator
-The rivets holding the motor in place
-The motor and regulator

To install:

1. Install or connect the following:
-The motor and regulator into position. Install new rivets
-The connectors for the power window motor and regulator
-The lift mechanism. Install new rivets
-The soundproofing

2. Install or connect the following:
-Connect the connectors to the door module switches and power mirror switch
-Guide rail
-New rivets for the guide rail
-Guide molding
-Cable for the inside door handle
-Press door panel into place
-The M6 screws. Tighten to 88 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
