we have a 2005 S40. they key will not release from the ignition. The immobilizer has been activated. Apparantly the spare key was had fallen under the drivers seat undetected. So I believe the immobilizer was triggerred because the 2 keys were 2 close together. The car will start and turn off but the key is locked in the ignition. Anyone know how to reset the immobilizer so we can get the key out of the ignition?

 

On the older cars the ignition would not release the key when the shifter was not all the way in park with the button out. Not sure about post 2000 cars.

 

disconnect the negative battery post for a while then connect it back it might work
