Problems I had at year 2020
1. Very little oil leak from VVT pulley
2. Low idle when warm
I just put my car to repair at last January for VVT pulley replacement.
After the repaire I had following issues
1. Little oil leak from VVT pulley (again)
2. Low idle when warm
3. Engine stall randomly and shut off
4. After sudden shutoff can't start the engine, cranking 5-10 minutes will start the engine.
Again put to repair (different shop) at Last march.
There diagnosis was bad timing. However no harm being done to valves, pistons or rods.
After two months I got the vehicle again and my puny car is weak as hey straw now.
It won't pick-up
No power when needed
Engine shut off
Can't start
It has all above mentioned 1 to 4 issues. And shows these tremendous amount of fault codes (attached)
I don't know how to deal with this.
What would you do if you are in my shoes?
Second would be to clear the OBD codes and see which ones pop back up. When a car has been worked on and/or has sat undriven for months, low or disconnected battery voltage can cause a lot of random "meaningless" errors. Clearing the codes and finding out which ones are real would help. Hopefully the codes won't all pop back up.
It just seems like SO many errors that it's hard to believe they're all real.
bad timing - like in cam shaft timing??. I agree with habbyguy to check battery voltage, clear codes to see what resets - based on what you are suggesting about cam timing, I'd be looking for some related fault codes. The VVT leak issues are not likely to be related but when the VVT gear is replaced, the timing belt is taken off and reinstalled, the VVT hub needs to be rotated back into its correct position. Considering you suggested it runs worse than when the second shop worked on the car, I'd say they didn't set the cam and VVT hub timing correctly. Curious if they also replaced the timing belt and tensioner when the VVT hub was serviced. If not, I'd have the timing belt done by an experienced Volvo tech noting the concern regarding valve timing.
