Imobiliser LED
Hi to all. I am "brand new" to this forum, hope you can help me with some questions I have. I just bought a second hand S40 2000 model. I have a question regarding the small red LED indicator of the imobiliser that is situated on the dashboard in front of the co-driver and inside the right hand loudspeaker. The question is if the LED has to go on and off when the imobiliser is on (key removed from ignition switch) even when no anti-theft alarm is fitted in the car. At the dealer I was told that the small red LED flashes only when an alarm is fitted, but I dought it. Does anybody know this issue?
Thanks for the info BJ. The difference is though that my S40 has no alarm fitted and the LED of the immobiliser does not flash at all! Could it be due to the missing alarm, or should the LED flash anyway (alarm or not)?
I would assume the red LED flashes to tell u (or potential thieves) that the system is armed and working properly. If ur car does not have an alarm,it makes no sense for the LED to flash.Again though,I thought all s40's had the alarm as standard equipment but I guess I am wrong.BJ
