Hello all,
Im new to this forum or any forums so bare with me.
My aunt in turkey has a 2001 s40 with about 30 miles on it that she wants to get rid of. I would love to have it imported, but i dont know what modifocations need to be made, if any. The bumpers look the same externally from US models to Turk models, and i know turkey has stricts emissions, or at least huge taxes on big engines, so emissions should not be an issue. What do i need to do to make this car legal in the us? From modifications to legal work?
Thanks

Not much help on the S40 as I've never imported one. I do know that when I brought back my 1985 S10 Blazer from England the port inspector placed a little device in the exhaust pipe looking for lead. This was because England still sold leaded gasoline and you could buy these plastic adapters to fit the larger refueling nozzle into the smaller unleaded fuel tank openings in modern cars.
Has your S40 ever ran leaded fuel?
