HI I NEED SOME HELP!!!!! I have a 2000 S40 1.9...it has 85,000 miles on it right now. Now the issue is when the car idles, it vibrates its worse when its in drive and not so bad when its in neutral. Now the other problem is when I begin to drive it starts to jerk from second to third gear. Does anything have any familar experience with this problem...

Ok "FORUM ISSUES" means just that. Issues with the FORUM itsself. Not car related issues.

Now I am going to move this to the proper section of the forum.

Next time I will delete the thread if it is posted in the wrong forum.

Hi Justin,

It seems that some of the engine & transmission mounts have given in. The average lifespan of rubber parts is 5 to 6 years.

As to shifting problem, I can only suggest that you check the transmission fluid for proper level, colour & smell. It should not have burnt smell, but 'm not sure what type of fluid is used on S40s so I'm not sure what colour it is. Also, have a visit to local AutoZone or other auto parts shop where they do free OBD-II diagnostic. Have the codes pulled from the transmission control module. Or, it may only need control cable adjusted. I do not have the service manual for S40, soI'm not sure about the specs on the cable.

Ask for Moderator Tech, Tech is the top-dog of the forum and he would be able to give you more accurate replies than I could possibly do.

Good luck,

JPN

I would also have your plugs checked and coils. What codes came up when diagnosed?
