Default Just shelled a big chunk of money to repair my S40.

A few weeks ago it developed this weird but very loud noise when the car was in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear. Turned out to be the gearbox, so I had to replace that, + a new clutch disc. Now, the mechanic did not know what the problem with the gearbox was, it could've been a bad input shaft bearing, or a gear tooth that had simply chipped off.
I had to buy a used gearbox, however because the 1.6 model is rare OR the gearbox of the 1.6 model fails a lot, there were none for a while and so they cost a fortune(basic supply and demand). The 1.6 model also appears to use a pump for the clutch pedal rather than a string, so the gearbox had to be from another 1.6 model.

Sadly, there's a few more problems to be resolved. My PCV flame trap/oil trap box is plugged and needs to be cleaned out.

Also, on the previous gearbox and the newer one, the clutch fork vibrates a lot, and makes a rattling noise when the clutch pedal is not pressed and goes away when pressed. Not sure why the mechanic did not attempt to fix this, he also forgot to put some kind of cover on, and I can see the clutch disc spinning. I am also providing a link to a video of the fork rattling and you can even see behind it, the spinning clutch.

Turns out my particular volvo is not a keeper.
