Default Intermittent clutch problem

Hi. Can anyone help advise me to what is wrong with my clutch on my volvo v50 2.0d sport 07 plate. 2 months ago I had a complete clutch fitted including master cylinder. 3 weeks ago I jumped into to the car to drive it and the clutch pedal stayed on the floor. I lifted it up and pressed it a few times and all seemed ok for about a week. Cold weather came and every morning the same issue has happened. Since then the whole clutch has been replaced again and the same problem is accruing. Every morning no clutch!!!. I have to pump the clutch to get in gear and the car takes off on its own with the clutch pedal fully down. The mechanic has spent days on it and is still it's the same.
can anyone advise to what is wrong

Regards Reg

It seems I am experiemcing the same issue. The previous owner had a new clutch installed. I have been driving the car for a couple of months. I had noticed that the clutch felt strange on occasion. I blamed that on the user. It completely failed while on the highway when I was down shifting. Went to the floor and stayed there. Had the slave cylinder bled. No change. It is currently in the shop and a new slave and bearing was ordered. Waiting on the outcome on that.

The new slave cylinder will probably fix it - a blown master or slave cylinder will be what puts the pedal on the floor. The funny feedback you were feeling was probably air in the system, prior to the total failure.

I had this happen once on a 1977, two week-old Fiat (yeah, I should have known better). Luckily, I was driving barefoot and was able to pull the pedal up with my toes - that actually reengaged the clutch, and got me down the highway to my exit (where the pedal stayed down until being towed to the dealer).

Flushing the hydraulic reservior and lines did the trick. Clutch works fine.

Anyone need a clutch bearing?
