Looking at used 2001 S40, any comments?
I went to aused car lot and found a used 2001 S40 on the lot. It now has just over 100k on the odometer. What can I expect from the S40 at this age and condition? It seems to be in good working condition but I would rather get information compiled about the car before I test drive it and get enamored with it
I already know to look at the mounts, but is there anything else? how about the timing belt? is there anyway to find out if it has been replaced? I used to have a 97 960 and it was a damn good car

Firstyou have to takea VIN number and check it atwww.carfax.com however you'll have to payfor this report around $35.Service interval for timing belt and tensener 105000 ml I recomend to change water pump too. Then you have take the car for test drive .
yeh, i have never used carfax before and have regretted it...this time, im taking my time instead of getting bit by the new(er) car bug.
Engine mounts. Strut mounts. Bushings. Brake rotors. Spark coils. I have a 2001 s40 I bought new with 91,000 miles and this is all I have had to replace except for the battery, brake pads every 30,000, spark plugs and tires. I do have an oil leak that I believe is coming from the turbo. Will change turbo gaskets soon. Tech anything I missed?
