Question "Low Brake Fluid Stop Safely" still on after level is filled to MAX

Hello,

I was replacing the rear brake pads on our 2006 S40 2.4i.

As recommended, I used a suction pump to draw the reservoir down before retracting the pistons in the two rear calipers. Wanted to leave room for the brake fluid that would flow out of calipers.

I took alot out of the reservoir, but did not empty the reservoir on the master cylinder. I do not think I exposed the system to air by taking too much out.

After refilling the reservoir, all the way to the MAX mark on reservoir, the

"Low Brake Fluid Stop Safely" still comes on, but not at each start up.

About 1 out of 5 times, the warning is off the info area on the dash. But the other 4 out of 5 times, the message is on.

Can this be anything other than a faulty or stuck float sensor in the reservoir?

Is there any special RESET to this message, or just by filling the reservoir, should the message go out. ??

Wondering if there is a dealer/mechanic type reset, to encourage you to have the brake system inspected.

Thanks for any help on this.

Chris with 2006 S40
