Default MPG / miles left (etc.) display

My '05 V50 doesn't have any of that - the upper information display is limited to just error messages and such. I have no thumbwheel on the turn signal stalk, only a read button on the end. Pressing it will just return a "no messages" message (kind of an oxymoron...).

Anyway, would replacing the turn signal stalk with a "thumbwheel unit' enable this feature (with or without a VIDA-driven configuration change)? Or would it require more surgery than it's worth?

there's a post for an 07 S40 parting out in the classified board - you may want to see about if that car has the parts you'd need.

I saw that - thanks! The turn signal stalk with the thumbwheel is the easy part - I think I'd have to take it in to Volvo to get it reprogrammed ($$$$) which is the hard part. I'm thinking it's hardly worth it, since the display itself is so small and dim to be unreadable during many driving conditions anyway. I could always just plug in a Bluetooth OBD dongle and set my Torque Pro app to give me a REAL situational display, I suppose...
