Out of curiosity, and been searching but not finding much, is there a way to change when the turbo kicks on and how much boost it gives? If so how can I do this? I'm not looking for much, just want to have it give maybe 5£ boost and kick on at 2,500 instead 3,500

I posted in the turbo section a few days or so ago but haven't gotten any replays so I figured I would retry my post here where it's reticent to the car in question, thanks!

 

The total amount of boost is regulated by the ECM through the TCV. If it boosts higher than programmed you will get a check engine light. I'm assuming you do not care to spend a couple thousand on a reflash of your ECM?

Now for quicker onset try twisting the wastegate actuator adjustor. The is a small stainless steel rod with an adjustment thumb wheel on the wastegate. You take a marker and mark a reference point then turn the adjustor one turn. (Hell I can't remember which direction) Then drive the car to see if it boosts quicker. The posts I've read say max of two turns or the check engine light comes on for overboost. Just experiment and see what you like. Keep a good handle on your reference mark. You can always put it back to stock.

 

Ok cool, ill give it a go, thanks, I may try reprogramming the ECM, I will look into the waste gate as well, as for the wast gate what should I look for? Where should it be located, I know it should be some how in line with the turbo but I never really felt with turbos before so I'm not 100% sure what to look for, thanks!
