Default Newbie 2005 S40

Great car but not my first Volvo. One important question how can I connect my IPOD to the stereo without using the crappy wireless radio frequency kind of adaptor? Thanks

Dealer already told me the FM transmitter is my only option. I already have the Belkin FM transmitter and no matter how much you spend on one they all are no good! I love the car but it drives me crazy that Volvo came up with such a lame audio system for such a nice car.

Do you have a CD changer?

You could have a custom piece made by who knows who and have it plugged into the CD Changer port on the back of the HU.

Lame audio system??!! You're high.

The premium sound options are the best sounding factory systemson the market, imho. The fact that I can't get the AUX option kinda stinks, and it really needs a USB port and mp3 support, but besides that I haven't heard a better system from anyone else.

Actually, I have to disagree. I have an 06' s40 w/ premium sound and the optional 800 sub, and franky it has to be the WORST sounding audio system I've experienced in the last 10 years! My 1997 E320 had the optional BOSE sound, and man did it blow the s40 out of the water! At first, I tried to write it off as the difference in interior materials (I have the D-Tek, the Benz had leather) but two friends, upon initial rides in the car, both commented "I like everything but the sound, the bose in the benz was better" I agree. THe door mounted tweeters seem to clip often, and I hear distortion at medium levels of volume, my last car having no distortion at any level. Even my old 1989 300 SEL had a better factory system... the highs were crytal clear, almost as if you were center stage. Like much else in the s40, Volvo equipped the car like an economy car, not an entry level luxury sedan.

I use the XtremeMac Airplay Boost - works great on S40 and multiple othervehicles. Looks great with the ipod. Has a pass through to keep it charged. Check it out here: http://www.xtrememac.com/audio/wirel...ideo/index.php
