Oil change advice
I am taking my 2002 Volvo s40 into one those quick, fast lube stores. I am
little reluctant to do this because of past experiences with them. The product, they sell, the lube oil is fine, but the service well that is another story.
I have replaced my oil pan at least once and had to drill out the bolt hole where the oil drains out at least once.
I am afraid from past experiences that the tech will strip the thread simply by tightening the screw too tight when they reinsert the plug and then screw it in the oil pan.
I just need to know the recommended torque on that plug bolt so as not to strip or buggar the threads in the whole. I believe that it is 11 foot-lbs.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Volvo models range but most are 28 ft lbs (for the Gen 1 S40s) and 35 ft lbs for others like the 850s. I am guessing this variance is due to the style of crush washer the plug uses. Either way I'd characterize this as "snug" enough not to leak but not strong armed.
