Oil Filter not as specified...
Recently purchased a 1997 S40 (in Australia) and went to do an oil and oil filter change. The manual and all other written authorities quoted a specific 'cartridge' style filter for the replacement. However, the filter that's installed is the common 'all in one' metal canister type..?? After looking at the relevant ID numbers on the filter I have and doing a google search, it comes up as the filter installed into a V90 model Volvo.
Does this mean my car has a different replacement engine...?? Are there any other possibilities....or how can I determine the type or model of engine that is actually installed in my Volvo..???

Which engine do the engine compartment decals say it's supposed to have? I show 4 possible choices: B4164S, B4184S, B4204S, B4192T.
VIDA shows a metal filter in 1997 and cartridge in 1998 normally aspirated engines. The last engine, B4192T, is a turbo engine. The VIDA drawing appears to show a metal filter but I could not find a part number.
