So yesterday I took big hose off of the turbo and felt inside.
It appears I have a lot of play in that side In and out.
So I unhooked the arm on the wastegate.
Put it to where I think is a wide open position,no turbo pressure.
If I drive it normally I get very little smoke.
I think it's the turbo.

S40200 - I can't really add much in the way of advice, but really appreciate your posts because I'm experiencing very similar symptoms and am pretty sure my cam seals are leaking to cause our main oil leak. Did head gasket job/belt/water pump/seals about 25K ago and I think we failed to completely do the PCV system since I was intimidated by the work on the main breather hose (part 8653327). I can't remember, but we might have tried to flush through it without removal. Other parts of the kit were done however. I will definitely be doing the glove test tonight.

Main question - Turbo - I've known our's has been bad for a long time, but the thing I could never get answered from anyone and maybe you might know; can a turbo develop an internal coolant leak, causing burn or loss of coolant? I know this is true for oil, but I thought I read somewhere that the coolant flow through the turbo could not leak internally like oil. (not asking about at the supply tube though) Would anyone know this about the turbo?

Steve thank for the input.
I can't answer about the coolant in the turbo.
But I'll be changing out mine soon and plenty of pictures to follow.
