OIL LEAK pulley side
I have recently done a complete cam seal replacement on my 2001 S40.
"while I was in there": timing belt, idler, crank seal, VVT were all replaced. At the time my leak was the cam seals and the VVT.
Some of the oil leak remained. It appeared to be very low on the engine, so I assumed I nicked the crank seal, or had a bad one, or just screwed up installing it. I did not realize that the oil pump had a gasket and an o-ring. The timing belt How-tos always mention the water pump, but dammit, none I saw ever mentioned the oil pump
So I guess I have to go back in. Anyone have any links to procedures and videos for just the crank and oil pump?
I found one on youtube but the guy pretty much starts at removing the crank gear.
I would assume that I should line up all the timing marks, loosen the tensioner, pull the belt off the crank and pull the crank gear. Then go after the oil pump.....IIRC most of this procedure will be thru the wheel well?

Hi Malcolm,
I put a guide together that covered all of this (for my 2003 V40). There is way more info in there than you likely need but it covers everything except removal/replacement of the oil pump itself which as I understand is pretty easy.
Note that many don't bother to lock the crank but I felt better doing so. If you don't the job becomes a fair bit easier.
